THE OLD FORT ZANZIBAR ISLAND(NGOME KONGWE) WORLD HERITAGE SITE

 It was built by Oman Arabs after expelling the Portuguese in 1699.It was used as a garrison and prison in 19th century and as a terminal of Zanzibar railways 1905 to 1928.A new guard house was built in 1947 and used as the ladies club and an open theatre was added in the 1990.It is now the headquarters of the Zanzibar international film festival.
The building was constructed by the coral and stones that comes from the sea and the walls were so thick about 1.5m.
